Winter Dressing 101
5 looks to get you through the mundane days of cold weather dressing.
For someone who despises winter and being cold, it always surprises me that this season ends up being my favorite for getting dressed. I love the layering - slouchy tees under sweaters, tights with skirts and mixing textures that only cooler weather allows. The little details that make an outfit feel thought out that summer doesn’t really give me. Although ask me in a month or two when I’m shivering and pale and I’ll probably tell you otherwise..
Last week I experienced a horrid rosacea flair up (if you know you know) and mostly hunkered down at home. Hot soups and backyard bonfires blowing in my face are the perfect storm for bad reaction. So I daydreamed up what I want to wear this season and pulled together 5 outfits to get you (and myself) through the week. Simple pieces with a statement that can be worn in more ways than I can come up with.
I’ve come to the conclusion that you’re either a vintage winter sweater person or you’re not. And I couldn’t be more of one. Everyone needs at least one, and this Alex Mill cardigan was done just right. A little nostalgia with a modern touch.

A few of my favorite things consist of stripes, corduroys, and mixing black and brown. I feel my most true self in an oversized striped tee and this one is only $45.

I tried this shearling jacket on in New York years ago and it’s been living in my mind ever since - can vouch for how soft and cozy it is. If you need an elevated staple long sleeve that can be worn from lounging and beyond, this jersey tee is the one to get.
Day-to-day this is exactly what I’m reaching for. While I have a toddler hanging on my leg as I’m getting ready everyday, I really don’t have the mental space anymore to put much thought into what I’m wearing. Which is why invest in high quality accessories (this hollyhock belt) and simple pieces with a subtle statement (this cardigan) to help pull everything together effortlessly.

For the days I can’t bear put on jeans and want to be simple and neutral, I’m reaching for a pair of silk pants. These will take you from the grocery store to a night out and really, what more can we ask for in a pair of pants?

Banana Republic Wide Leg Corduroys:
Side note, I can’t stop wearing these cords. They’re such a cool and relaxed pant that’s easy to throw on and go - looks like you tried but really didn’t. I recommend going up a size for a more casual fit. I’m wearing here with my tried-and-true Jcrew classic cashmere sweater and Banana Republic vneck. I never leave the house without my Liffner Bucket Bag and everyday watch.
Until next week,
Hannah xx

I love the mixing of black and brown!
